I am a tweeter

I never thought I would actually do it but I am officially a Twitter user.  I signed up for my account over lunch today and now I am off and running.  If you want to find me my user name is: SWMNRev.

My purpose is to explore the ministry aspects of Twitter.  I don’t plan to get overly narssasitic and tell people when I am going to the bathroom, drinking water or going for a run.  I am going to try to limit my tweets (I guess that is what they call Twitter updates) to ministry tweets.  This is an experiment so we’ll see how it goes.

Are you using Twitter?

Is this worth while?

What’s your experience?

  1. I’m a twitter user, I do confess. For my part, is is worthwhile, as long as you are careful about who you follow. I think it’s a great tool that’s still evolving – there are several good, free, 3rd party apps for seeing, replying, and tracking tweets and conversation. It is easy to get to wrapped up with it. I have a colleague in ministry in Louisville who, on some days, seems to do nothing else but hang out on Twitter, posting the minutiae of life.

In sum: A good tool, but a risky one for a narcissistic culture such as ours.

    • Thanks for the thoughts. And yes…Twitter really could rob me of a lot of time if I let it.

    • Hmmm…I am pretty sure I exist.

Another friend of mine had a hard time finding me but then another had no problem. Interesting.

    • Oh by the way…I just found you on Twitter and am following you. That sounds strange to say “I’m following you”…it almost sounds like I’m stalking you 🙂
