Sunday Morning Prayer ~ Matthew 16:13-20

Sunday mornings are a little different as we join in prayer using the text I will be preaching today.

LET US PRAY: Holy God, who are you? You are Creator, Mighty God and Father. You are revealed to me in Jesus. But who is Jesus?
Jesus is Lord, Savor and King,
He is the One to whom my voice sings.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is Redeemer, Shepherd, and friend,
He is the One who has no end.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is Servant, Master and Son.
He is the One who for me has won.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is MY Lord.
Jesus is MY Savior.
Jesus is MY Life.
Jesus is the only way to You, Father God, and thus may Your Spirit teach me more and more of him and may Your Spirit draw me closer and closer to him. For if Jesus shows me You, and he does, then I want more of Jesus.
Who are You Father?
You are Love.
You are Grace.
You are Mercy.
You are.
And thus to You be all glory, praise, honor, thanksgiving and worship, and I do so through Jesus Christ, Your Son and MY Lord, Amen.

Who are You?

In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 16, Jesus asks the disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Can you answer that question? I am not talking about the first question he asks which is, “Who do PEOPLE say that I am?” That’s an easier question to answer, but not the one a follower of Jesus needs to answer. Who to YOU say that Jesus is?

Father God,
You are holy.
You are mighty.
You are love.
Through Jesus Christ,
You are Life.
You are hope.
You are grace.
I ask, oh God, that each and every day
You reveal to me who You are
and then may I live in that revelation
in order to bring glory to Your holy name.
Oh God,
I worship You for You are my all in all;
more than words can describe.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.

Who is Jesus?

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
(Matthew 16:15)

Who are you Jesus?

You are not a genie in a lamp.
You are not a creation of my imagination.
You are not a “get rich quick” scheme.
You are not simply a way to live care-free.

Who are you Jesus?

You are not a law-giver.
You are not a soul-condemner.
You are not a distant ruler.
You are not an uninterested observer.

Who are you Jesus?

YOU ARE my…
Savior
Lover of my soul
Grace-filled Lord
Friend
Teacher
Patient Father running out to meet me ~ a prodigal.

You are more than I can imagine.
You are more than what I could have possibly hoped for.
You are more than anything this world can promise.
You are the Son of God.
You were dead but didn’t stay that way.
You are my life.

But what about YOU…who do YOU say Jesus is?
