The web site I am working on for Salem Lutheran Church is up and running. There is still more work to do on it but it is there. The NEW address is: www.salemjackson.org This name rolls off the tongue much better than the one we were assigned. Right now I am in the process of getting feedback from people and checking out other church web sites for ideas. If you have a great idea let me know. I need all the help I can get.

I think that church websites are a good idea these days. For some reason, our church’s website seems to be on the web but without contest. What’s the point?
I’ve checked on the websites of several churches through the ELCA church finder links. Some times those don’t exist or they are way way out of date. I’d guess that this will become even more of a problem as more groups have websites, but there is a new secretary, pastor, etc. who doesn’t know how to work with the Web.
There also seems to be a wide gap between the websites of churches with more money and those without. It might be nice for the ELCA to provide a service where smaller churches could just plug info into a template, just like we do with blogging. Content is more important than design.
Hey, good website. overall it looks good. but i would strongly recommend getting a better picture of your church. it’s very grainy. find someone with a higher res. camera to take a sharper pict.
take care.
I have been thinking the same thing, Kevin. I don’t have another picture of the church so I was just using this one until we got a better one. But thanks though. I appeciate you checking it out and for the feedback.
Good for you that you have done this! Two things I know from our experience. First, you really need to keep up the content. Second, people like pictures of the staff and events, but do not post kid pics without parental permission and probably not their names.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will be working on those.
