Cell phone vs. Bible

I got this as an email forward from the church secretary here at Salem.  I normally don’t send forwards but considering Salem is celebrating "Bible Sunday" next Sunday I thought this was appropriate.  I think I will include this in the bulletin on Sunday as well.

CELL PHONE vs. BIBLE
I wonder what would happen
if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell
phones? What if we carried it around in our
purses or pockets? What if we flipped through
it several times a day? What if we turned back
to go get it if we forgot it? What if we used
it to receive messages from the text? What if
we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave them to kids as gifts? What if
we used it when we traveled? What if we used it
in case of emergency? This is something to make
you go….hmm…where is my Bible? Oh, and one
more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don’t
have to worry about our Bible being
disconnected, because Jesus already paid the
bill. Makes you stop and think, ‘Where are my
priorities?" And…no dropped calls!

I hope you enjoyed that.  Take care and God bless!

  1. That’s good. It reminded me, though, that I have a Bible browser link on my web-enabled cellphone. I do use it and it has turned out to be fairly convenient a couple of times…

  2. I carry a New Believers pocket new testament all the time and My NIV Study bible in my backpack when I go to work. The pocket bible comes in handy and I try to read it at least daily.

  3. That is awesome, John. I am beginning to see that a lot of people do actually carry their Bibles with them like a cell phone. In my little world here in SW MN that doesn’t seem to be the case. But maybe I am wrong. But then again, there is a reason the ELCA felt the need to pass a “Read the Bible” resolution. I think Lutherans have a way to go.

    Thanks for stopping by.
