Indifference, Curiosity and Intelligence

I don’t have anything really theological right know, but hopefully this afternoon I will when I return from text study.  The texts from Ecclesiastes and Luke 12 are running around in my head creating all kinds of chaos — good chaos though (if that even makes sense).  I do have a couple thoughts on them but have not formed them into "intelligent" sentences yet (if THAT even makes sense).  So in the mean time I am going to leave you with these three postcards that always make me laugh.  This is such a random post, but that is how I am feeling today.  Enjoy and I will see you later:

(1) Indifference:  It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn’t take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

(2) Curiosity:  There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

(3) Intelligence:  Some people drink deeply from the fountain of knowledge.  Others just gargle.

God bless and stay cool (it is hot and humid in SW MN).

  1. Eric,
    inquisitive idiots
    Hi

I feel most times like i am an inquisitive idiot. That is why I enjoy Bible Study’s, most people are afraid to ask questions, I ask ALOT of questions and sometimes take a few jabs from others, I don’t mind but not asking what is God saying is worse than anything.

So this months concerns, Can we truly be saved and a follower of the Christ if we continue to sin the same sins again and again? Some of my more fundamentalist friends have me guessing that. As a sinner of some renown I certainly can grasp “Simul iustus et peccator”

I know how Paul felt, I do what I dont want to do.

Anyway glad to be reading your blog again

    In Jesus

  2. I think those three postcards have more redeeming value that the two cars with bumper stickers I saw on my morning walk. “My body is not a temple, it is an amusement park” was parked next to a vehicle I call the Salvationmobile. It is covered with bumper stickers telling people the end is near, get saved or burn in hell.. you get the picture. I wonder if the two owners will run into each other today. It is very hot and humid here too. Could get hotter if they meet.

  3. Rick, sometimes I feel like I am an “inquisitive idiot” as well. But like you said, we need inquisitive idiots out there. As Paul write, “I am a fool for Christ”.

  4. Carolyn,
I have seen the first bumper sticker before. And the sad thing is that TV and movies promote that lifestyle, hence many young people are growing up with that attitude.
